Expecting Moms Newborn Must-Haves Checklist

Expecting Moms Newborn Must-Haves Checklist

Every expectant mother deals with anxiety leading up to the delivery. While some worry is about giving birth, much of it is about the preparation or a lack of it. While many mothers think about Wellements Multivitamin Drops or other items for maintaining their baby’s health, they neglect the things essential for bringing your new bundle of joy home.

Nursing and Feeding

While Wellements constipation support might be necessary at some point, expectant parents need to focus on the tools that will keep their children fed. As a new mom, you need to decide if you will breastfeed or formula feed your newborn. There is no right or wrong answer; it is whatever is best for you.

If Formula Feeding

If you decide to use formula — again, a fine choice — you will want to pick up some bottles and a couple of nipple brushes. A thermal bottle carrier is also useful. Additionally, you will need to purchase bibs and burp cloths — you can never have too many.

If Breastfeeding

With so many beneficial products for babies, like teething oil Wellements, it can be easy to forget about the natural beauty and benefit of the mother’s body. While breastfeeding is entirely natural and does not require any special tools or equipment, some mothers like to purchase breast pumps and storage containers. If you choose the natural feeding route, you will also benefit from nipple cream, specialty bras, and other breastfeeding-specific clothing.

Diaper Changing

As with breastfeeding, there are two options for diapers: disposable and reusable or cloth. There are benefits to both, but you will want to have enough on-hand to cope with newborns’ developing bathroom habits.

Using Disposable

Disposable diapers are convenient and require less work. With a box full of diapers, you can make changing your little buddle of joy a rapid-fire experience. However, make sure to buy several boxes and find a dirty diaper storage solution. Throwing diapers away in the regular trash can get smelly very fast.

Using Cloth

Cloth diapers are the environmentally-friendly solution, sparking a comeback as of late. Beyond being eco-friendly, these diapers can save you money in the long run. Unfortunately, cloth diapers require the pretty gross task of cleaning out the excess before throwing them in the washer, but if you have an iron stomach, then cloth diapers are worth a shot.

Bed and Nap Time

Every newborn needs to develop a sleep schedule — a nightmare for new parents as they experience sleep deprivation. Part of creating a healthy sleep routine is figuring out how your baby will spend its nights: a crib or co-sleeping.

Using a Crib

If using a crip, you will want all of the essentials: crib mattress, fitted crib sheets, sleep sack, light blankets, and waterproof mattress covers. Beyond these essentials, you might also want to purchase a baby monitor, allowing you to keep an eye on your little one at all times.

If Co-Sleeping

For co-sleeping, you want to ensure your mattress is firm. Buy crib sheets and waterproof pads to put under your baby. You can use a lightweight comforter but keep it away from your baby’s head. You will also need a sleep sack.

While this is not an exhaustive list, it should be enough to get you started. Visit a local baby supplies store for more information and help.
